I would also like to find out if this runs better. Perhaps someone can make a CD compilation with two copies of the game on it, one using the CPU C2P and one using the Akiko C2P. I'd gladly test it on my CD32s and report my findings.

I think that ADoom and other Doom ports for the Amiga will support the WritePixelArray8() routine in Graphics.library and therefore support the Akiko chip on CD32.

I think I had the CD32 version.  I had 8MB of fast RAM on my SX-1 and it ran descent at a fairly large screen size.

Gloom Deluxe never was released for CD32, exist a Gloom version but i think that is A1200 version, i tried and run at shame speed that a plain A1200.

Take a look to the released CD32 games:

I will try to make a version for CD32 of Gloom Deluxe  with akiko c2p this weekend.

I have installed Gloom Deluxe and the Akiko C2P file on my CD32 (with SX32). The Akiko routine is indeed much smoother than the default Black Magic one. I tried an 020 optimised routine which ran quiet smooth as well, although it seems the Akiko one still ran best. I also installed a slightly newer Akiko C2P routine from the Gloom 3 demo. I'm not sure yet which of the two Akiko C2P routines is faster (it would help a lot if there was a FPS display). Probably the newer one. My SX32 has 8MB RAM in it, which is probably helping speed things up too. Next I'll try burning it to a CD and running it on my stock CD32 to see how it goes.

I must admit, the original CD32 version runs smoother in full screen (3x3 pixel mode) than Gloom Deluxe does in 2x2 mode, and possibly even smoother than the 4x4 mode. And that had no Akiko enhancements.

It's been a number of years since I did it, but I was also curious to see how much of a difference akiko made. I ran Gloom Deluxe (I think it was this version) on both my a1200, which at the time was a blizz4 50mhz/'030 with 8 meg fast, and my cd32 (14mhz '20) with sx-1 and 8 meg fast. Cant recall which, but I chose what seemed optimum routines for both and while the a1200 setup was still faster it was much closer than Id have expected. I remember thinking that the cd32 setup ran that game about as fast as a 30mhz '30 would have (by judging relative performance). Wish I could give a more accurate recollection, but its been probably 10 years since I did this, so the memory is getting a bit vague. I do however remember being pleasantly surprised with how much of a difference akiko seems to be able to give.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

I just played Gloom on my stock Amiga CD32 on my 43 inch Plamsa in full screen, sure it was blocky but the game moves very fast i must say :) cool that they could make it so fast on a stock CD32
