Bars & Pipes Pro. (2.0b)
« on: May 19, 2006, 08:53:07 PM »
Is there any way that I can run [some] version of Bars & Pipes on the PC format :-?

I love this program (B & P Pro / ver. 2.0b); it's the ONLY one that I have ever used with the Roland SC-55 Sound Canvas MIDI module.

I am desperate!  I have tried [demo versions of] PC notation-sequencing programs, but Bars & Pipes is - by far - the easiest to use & understand, without a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo (instructions that only the programmers understand which takes the fun out of wanting to get right into the creative process).
Not Just Hype... the best is Bars & Pipes!

Blue Ribbon Soundworks was purchased by Microsoft quite a while back.  They produced their other software SuperJAM! for the PC, but I'm sure as to their status at the moment.  Try to Google them.

Good luck!

@ stanley

A very good friend of mine in SA was also using B&P on the Amiga to control a Roland Sound Canvas. He was making awesome music back then but in the end he had to get some PCs because he was gettting into raytracing bigtime. He managed to do everything he had been doing on the Amiga, on the PC, but he struggled to get something similar to B&P on the PC. In the end he used Cakewalk, I don't know which version. Here is a link.

I don't know diddly about midi or music but one thing I know: all those who have used B&P agree that it was way advanced for its time and very easy to use.
