I was searching through ebay, when i found a really rare item, not like some guys that put "RARE" to all things, this is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.es/Commodore-C900-Z8000-Prototyp_W0QQitemZ6281480667QQcategoryZ42794QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It was the computer that Commodore made before buy Amiga, the project was cancelled after buy Amiga, and it never was produced to the public, here are more information about this hardware jewel:

http://www.floodgap.com/retrobits/ckb/secret/900.html

I think that this auction will finish with an very high price...

Wish I had a hold of that board. I like to get it powered up and see what screen it would display when repaired. Shipping would break my bank I bet.

Well I just sent a request for shipping to the US, we'll see what that might cost.

Cool to see some of the boards are still around.
I wonder what % of Commodore's designs were ever actually produced?  C65, 3000+, the multi-CPU board for the 3000, the 264/364, this system... it makes you wonder what managers were thinking.  Hmmm... all cancelled projects tended to be higher end designs from their product line.

Now I know where the 2000 case design came from.

The stuff I've had shipped from europe cost me about $45... except a Spectrum 2+ I just bought that was $5 from the UK but the seller screwed up.  I probably won't receive it but that's another thing.

Damn that's sweet.

I remember that INFO magazine had articles about the C900. (Not to be confused with INFO World). INFO was the first magazine entirely produced with computers.  Real DTP while the Mac fanatics were faking a lot of it.

Pullquote:  Unlike the other custom chips which were christened with women's monikers, the Agnus chip is not a corruption of the name Agnes (as I had previously thought), but rather, according to Jim Williams, Jay Miner named it Agnus from the Latin expression agnus dei ('lamb of God').

Hence Agnus means "Lamb".  Now you know the truth.

The ebay ad is in some gibberish language.  I can't get an translation.

Strangely when you go to ebay.com and search for Commodore C900 the auction doesn't come up.  Anybody know why?

That would be spanish and german
It is confusing, the ebay page is in spanish and the description in in german. Grab the item number and plug it in the search of the ebay site that's native to your country. The ebay information will be translated then. And here is my rough translation of the german description....

The C900 was Commodore's answer to a question that no one asked. In it's time, it was an advanced workstation with a high performance CPU and a UNIX style operating system. Unfortunatly the project was canceled after a handful of proto types were built in favor of the Amiga. Here's a unique chance to own the complete motherboard and daughterboard of a long passed series. A valuable piece of Commodore history.

Ebay site was changed, when you search an item and don't exist any item, it don't show the option of international sellers items, you must to check Location to Worldwide, some days ago when your search don't return any item, appears the international seller option.
