Is this possible & if so can anybody help. 23 pin rgb to component

I just purchased a A1000 off of e-bay and would like to keep it down stairs and hooked up to my 40" samsung lcd tv.
Is there a way to make or purchase a cable that converts the 23 pin rgb into rgb component. I have seen the 23 pin rgb to scart cables and scart to componet.
What would be the most easy and best way to do this?

There doesn't appear to be anything to STOP you from doing this.  There are plans out on the web to convert a RGB signal to Y-Cr-Cb component.  Looks like it could be built with about $10 worth of resistors and gates and a couple hours free time (counting the time to fashion yourself a DB23 connector out of a DB25).  

I'm surprised no companies like AmigaKit or Mr. Hardware have jumped on this simple thing.

I live in the US and my tv doesnt have a scart port, just component, s-video, composite, and HDMI

SCART is just a connector which includes various different signal types, including RGB, composite and so on... I'm vaguely aware of seeing the plans for that adaptor, and it is pretty simple, all you should have to do is separate out the signals and grounds to the BNC connectors or whatever are on your TV instead of the SCART plug. Electrically it should be exactly the same and so should work no problem.

As an aside, 23-pin D connectors are available if you have a good look around - I know I was able to get them in an electronics shop in Dublin the last time I needed them.

I don't see any mention of them doing international shipments though, but I'm sure if you look you can find them in the States somewhere if we can get them in Ireland!

His LCD TV set, requires YUV (also called component).

He needs an "Analogic RGB+Sync" TO "YUV" (aka "Y-Cr-Cb") converter, which is much, much more than a couple of resistors ;-)

Some modern/large TV sets/projectors accepts both formats.

Indeed.  That would be a nice thing for us North Americans who don't have SCART.

Is it, though?  Am I missing something?  You shouldn't have to EDIT sync, just make sure it gets passed through correctly.  Granted, I'm not an EE, but this diagram LOOKS reasonable.

An easy, yet cheap way to do this is to buy an old SVideo genlock on eBay - I paid 5 EUR for mine and it works very nicely. SVideo is not as good as RGB, but you can live with it. Composite sucks.

This sounds like a more feasible way of doing it. Your right S-video would at least be a vast improvement over composite.

I will look on e-bay, but please keep the ideas coming as I would still prefer the component.

These RGB to component converters from Keene Electronics are very good and work well with the Amiga.

They're a bit pricey but give a great picture. I bought one as I have a few bits of equipment with SCART sockets that I brought with me from the UK to NZ and didn't want to suffer composite video nasties!

those converter is perfect for WOWZER! even if SCART, it fits perfectly his needs (he will need only an Amiga RGB to female scart cable). About the price...its very cheap. What my supplier have, are in the thousand $$ price :-)

Thousands?? Ouch! I'd be happy to live with composite video if a component video solution was that expensive!!
