It depends on what you have now? But for the most part you just replace the roms and away you go.
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

Hi,

You don't really require any more RAM just to run 3.1.  RAM will just be useful for some apps.  3.1 is just a little different from 3.0.

edit- beat me to it
Good good study, day day up!

You don't even really need the ROMs.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

If you own one Amiga model (A3000, A1200, A4000) pumped up with enough memory you can even find some solutions to load and remap the whole Kickstart in fast memory and go.

Regarding compatibility:

Obviously AmigaOS 3.0 and AOS 3.1 and superior versions are best served by Kickstart rev.3.0 and rev.3.1.

Kickstart rev.3.1 it is the last one and differs from rev.3.0 by some minor changes and details.

Either AmigaOS versions v.3.0 and AOS v.3.1 run fine on both Kickstart versions.

as there is not exist rom3.0 for other amiga than a1200 and a4000  :-)  i guess you have one of them  :-)
you don't need rom3.1 to run workbench3.1. rom3.0 is enough.
A3040/25 AmigaOS 3.9
A1260BPPC AmigaOS 3.9/4.0
Sam440ep AmigaOS 4.1.2
PegasosII/G3 AmigaOS 4.1.2/MorphOS 2.7/Debian 5.0.7/SUSE 11.1
MacMini/G4 1.5 MorphOS 2.7/OSX 10.5.8
Long Live Amiga

If i am going to have bugs on my system,
at least let me keep the latest versions.

If you use the 3.0 roms with WB3.1, you miss out on a couple of minor fixes.
