My amiga 1200 does not detect my seagate 250MD HD directly connected to the 2,5 inch IDE op het moederbord
I suspect that a little fuser that broke off is the cause of this, but i am not sure. This fused is grey and black colored and has 100v written on it. Close up picture of this location at : http://www.angelfire.com/amiga/lyrical80/index.html

I will ofcourse fix this issue by soldering, but i would like to know if this could be the reason that no HD gets detected. My amiga runs normaly on a WB3.1 floppy disk.

Is it damaging my amiga if i run it without this fuser ?

Thanks for your input

Hi! Welcome to a.org :-)

Did the Amiga detect the hard drive before the component was broken off?

Hi Morolin !

Thank for your super quick response !!
I suspect that this fuse was pretty loose for a while, before it broke of, it was barely touched when it dropped. At that time i thought that my amiga did not work because of another reason. I have my amiga in a mirage tower with 6X Mediator, 4xIDE'99 and blizzard powerppc. So my amiga was pretty full up when it stopped working. Only when i did strip it totaly i discovered that the HD is not working.

Hmmm well the component's proximity to the IDE interface does mean it's more likely to be part of the IDE interface's circuitry. I would avoid using it until you have replaced the component.
