Booting from df1:
« on: April 28, 2006, 07:59:25 AM »
I have an A500 that df0: quit working on. I found a mod (bootfromdf1) to cross the drive selects on the board to cause the external df1: to be bootable from.

I completed the mod but it doesn't work. df0 bumps regardless of which position the switch is in when booting. df1 lights up continously but does not bump when booting with the switch in one position. When booting in the other position df1 doesn't do anything. Changing the position of the switch after booting seems to make no difference in df1. I wonder where I could've gone wrong.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi AmigaMuze,

How "Dead" is your DF0: ?
As you can see in the article, when you power the machine up initially, the switch needs to be in the "boot from DF0:" position, so that the hardware setup properly.

If the switch is in "Boot from DF1:" position when you power on, it will NEVER boot from ANYTHING.

Send me a private message if you can't get it to work.

The full archive of the project is in Aminet:/hard/hack/

P.S. That article was written by yours truly 17 years ago.

:-) . Where did all those years go...sigh!
