Retina Blitz ZIII Deceased?
« on: April 22, 2006, 06:41:28 PM »

Hi All,

I just picked up my first A4000 desktop!  What a great machine!

I had been sitting on a Retina Blitz ZIII card that I bought for my A3000.  I could never get it to work, and just assumed it was something flakey with my ZIII bus on the A3000 (like some A3000s are known for).

However, this video card does not show up in the Expansion board profile (hold down two mouse buttons on boot) and does not respond to drivers in my A4000 either!  Am I a sad man with a broken Retina card?  Anyone have any troubleshooting ideas?

Hi, have you painfully tried putting the video card in every zorro slot with no other cards installed? Ditto for trying it in the 3000. If neither Amiga recognizes it, then it's probably the card. :(

Sadly... yes, I have tried every slot.

Does anyone know the position of the ram?  For example, which way should the writing on the zip modules face?  Perhaps these are backwards.  (All that I can think of.)

I have also checked the ROM in a ROM unit...  found the checksum block... and it passed.  So... not the FLASH rom.

As a last ditch attempt have you tried cleaning the contacts on the edge connector with a pencil eraser & or rubbing alcohol?
