PCI network cards?
« on: April 20, 2006, 03:50:25 PM »
After owning a few A500's and an A600 for several years, today I finally got my hands on an A1200. Second-hand and towered, with a Blizzard 1260, Mediator PCI, IdeFix Express, SB 128 and an S3 Virge graphics card. Yum.

Too bad I can't test it yet, since it's missing a few cables :P For some reason the seller seems to have removed the 2,5 inch IDE-cable that connects the IDEfix to the Amiga, so I'll have to go and buy one tomorrow. I'll have to get a network card too, since there seems to be no way to fit my existing PCMCIA-card to this baby without cutting a piece of the tower's bottom off :P

I tried searching the forums about the PCI network cards the Amiga will accept, but couldn't find anything. So, what sort of card should I buy? Can the Mediator use any card, or does it have to be a specific maker/model (3Com, Realtek-based cheapos?)

Thanks in advance :)
Amiga 1200 / Blizzard 1260 (060/50 MHz & 64 MB RAM) / Indivision AGA / Mediator / Voodoo3 3000 PCI / SB 128 / ethernet card... also 2x Amiga 500 & Amiga 600

Since you have a S3 in the Mediator, you should be fine with a Realtek 8029 based card. IIRC the Realtek 8139 cards needs a Voodoo to operate.
