Scala IC 400 Amiga
« on: April 25, 2003, 07:32:26 PM »
Hi,
I got used original Scala IC 400 for Amiga but disk n. 10 (out of 14) is corrupted. Is there somebodu who can send me the archive from the disk, dms or adf image please ?
I checked  Scala Inc. website and they stopped support even for the first pc versions long time ago so there is no chance to get it from there...

Thanks for help

Hi,
I guess that I could do something about it, but you have to wait a couple of days because my Amiga is down

@ All:

 Next thing you know, Exie will  have found errors on all of the disks, and you'll have sent him a complete, pirate, copy of the software, believing that he's entitled to it.  It's an old trick in those circles: one piece here, another piece there, etc.  Don't fall for it.  Especially not on this site; we have more class, here.

:-? I'm sure that when you say "send",  you mean "send via snail mail", because you don't use the software any more.  Am I right?

too bad many of the best Amigans already jumped ship and ***** like you are still buzzing around

But for your information...
a) Scala require hardware key to run (I don't expect cYbo is offering pirated version through Amiga.org)

b) main Scala program is on the first disk, others contains only backgrounds and demos (ie not essential for running Scala)

c) I need just 2 disks out of 14! (I made the backup using adf images and this way you detect just read-write errors. Later I checked every disk and found the checksum error...)

d) very last... I hope you will never need similar help, coz others ***** like you won't help!

Bad form.  This site is about keeping the Amiga alive. If that means breaching some bureaucratic red tape from a long-dead company, so be it.

Share it all.

:-( No, sir.  It isn’t about long-dead companies having no Intellectual Property rights.  If an outfit goes bankrupt, those rights go to the creditors along with the company’s other assets.  If a parent company closes one of its subdivisions or whatever, the rights are still held by the parent company.  Look at Amiga’s history as an example.

 Software does not become Public Domain or similar just because you have trouble locating the owner.  Right and wrong do not hinge on your convenience, nor should they.  Just because your hardware has the ability to duplicate software doesn’t make it the right thing to do.

:-? Have you learned nothing from the comic books? “With great power comes great responsibility.”  That’s my screen saver, by the way.  I kid you not.

Scala is not dead, they just don´t answer questions about Amiga stuff anymore, does that mean that you have to leave Amiga just because they did? For one lousy disc missing/corrupted??! There is no way to buy it, so what is exactly your point?

I am by no means supporting pirated software, but I very much agree with some of the trolls here (cannot remember which ones, sorry :-)), stating something along the lines of:

'if an amiga company/developer will apparantly have nothing to do with its customers and/or ignores them completely for trying to purchase a product, screw them' - I know I would. I am not going to beg and cry for them to take my money.

Sincerely,

-Kenneth Straarup.

(With that said it DOES seem that the active developers are responsive from what I read, so no flaming to them :))
