You can't use it to replace the floppy because it's an IDE device. Also, you can't boot from the LS-120.

If a CD2 uninitialised icon appears when you put in a disk, then you have a mountlist called CD2 in your DEVS: drawer for CD2 which is pointing to the SCSI device and unit that the LS-120 is on.

What happens when you try to format the disk in DF4:?

My experience has been that my LS-120 can only read and write MS-DOS disks.

Several years ago I had an ls120 set up in my 4000 which was able to read both Amiga and MS-DOS floppies, as well as Amiga or DOS formatted 120MB disks.

I don't have that hardware anymore, but I think I stil have the mount lists.

But I think mine was wired to the internal IDE in the 4000. GOing to an IDEexpress might be part of the problem.

My current mountlists for my AmigaOne are different from the old one, so they probably won't work on your 12000. But if you want to try my older mountlists from the 4000 I could send them to you.

If you go into the IDEfix drawer (wherever you installed it) there is a drawer called LS120 (or mount LS120 - something like that anyway).  IIRC there is a mounting tool in there for setting up LS120 correctly.

btw - LS120 will not read Amiga formatted disks - there are several threads here and elsewhere about it.  It WILL read 720k and 1.44mb MSdos disks, but will not read amiga formatted 880k 1.6mb disks.

You might also want to drag the formatLS120 tool onto your Amidock (also in the IDEFIX/ls120 drawer).
