Amiga TV commercials
« on: April 06, 2006, 09:33:29 PM »
The german blog 'Industrial Technology & Witchcraft' recently posted three Amiga TV commercials from 1989!  :-P

Amiga 'Celebrity' Commercial
Amiga 'Rock Star' Commercial
Amiga 'House' Commercial

I can't remember ever saw an Amiga ad on television. Does anyone know if Commodore produced more Amiga commercials?

BTW due to numerous threads about the Amiga the blog recently decided to add an Amiga rubric.   :-D

Some more interesting information about Amiga advertising can be found at Jim's Amiga Commercial Page.   At the bottom left of that page are links to CD32 and C64 commercials.

And here's a VIC-20 commercial with Captain Kirk at the Web Archive.  :-)  There are other Commodore-related videos archived there, too.

Commodore made some short spots for the A500 that ran here in the States on MTV. I remember seing them along with the three you mentioned.
When I worked at an Amiga store, we made one of our own with Videoscape. :-)

Thanks for the links folks!  :-)

Commodore did some amazing TV ads. It's interesting to watch them and compare it with todays commercials.

If you have the Amiga Forever premium 2006 edition you get some of the TV adds on the DVDs that come with it and a whole pile of other trade show footage and intreviews.

If you watched alot of television in the US and Canada in the 90's the Amiga 4000 was used alot to produce the shows like Letterman, Babalon5, Startrek and many others. The Video Toaster was instermental in intigrating 3D animation and live video switching making it afordable to NBC, ABC, CBS and many studios around North Amarica like Paramount studios.
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

I still would like to know what the heck commodore was smoking to have them all have the Goonies theme in the commercials?  How cheesy!  I mean the Goonies theme rocks, but they could of used the Amiga to create a unique tune couldn't they? lol
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

Err, really?  I don't remember seeing that on there.  Is it a hidden feature?

Hi,

I remember seeing an advertisement for the CD32 on television here in England sometime in 1995.

I have a copy of the advert on CD, and sometimes run it on one of my CD32's, just for old times sake.

Regards, Michael

I still have the anim files, but the whole spot was edited together in 'post' as they say. It's only on tape.  My copy is really crappy now too. :-)
