Porting Windows Applications to Linux PowerPC?
« on: April 01, 2006, 03:21:31 PM »
Official reply from Transitive.com:

It is possible to port/run MS Office applications for X86 Windows into Linux for PowerPC without any MS involvement.
It is also possible to port other X86 Windows application to Linux for PowerPC.

Is this an April 1st joke?
What about the performance?
Should the hardware vendor use Xilinx Virtex II Pro PowerPC 405 core with special FPGA circuit optimized for QuickTransit?

From Transitive.com:

QuickTransit® for Power™/PowerPC™ - Allows application binaries compiled for a MIPS®, x86 or mainframe processor to run on a POWER™/PowerPC™ based computer. Application binaries compiled for other processors will be supported soon. Operating system call mapping from any Unix/Linux-like operating system or any mainframe operating system to any Unix/Linux-like operating system is supported.
