Simpsons and Amigas

Firstly, apologies if this has already been mentioned. I did use the search thread first, so I'm going to blame that instead of me if this has cropped up.  :-D

Just watching the Simpsons boxsets on DVD and, being the sad, lonely individual that I am, I flicked onto the audio commentaries. I was surprised to learn that not only did they use Amigas for producing the shot of Earth from space in the season 5 episode 'Deep Space Homer', but they still used them to create the complex 3D sequence in 'Bart on the Road'- an episode in 1995.

See, they used Amigas when the show was good.  :-)

There are still production companies using an amiga 4000 to run the Video Toaster and Flyer to do editing and live switching. I know of at least one TV station here that has one and uses it often.
Lightwave was used with multiple A4000's using screemernet for years to do shows like Babalon5, Star trek (Voiage home and Deep space 9) and many other 3D rendering in the early to late 90s.

Did they say which Amiga models they used? Or mention the software?? It would be great if it was an A500 with Dpaint :lol:

The pilot episode of Babylon five used a network of Amiga 2000's for rendering special effects, there is an interesting interview with Ron Thornton in which he mentions the Amiga several times.
