I've never understood while asking someone out you've known for ages never seems to work..by that stage I guess you've entered the dreaded friend zone?

Jeez I love the game of love, but it can be a bit disheartening sometimes...

Anyway, I'm going out on the pull, to make myself feel better!

Been there! On the other hand, I've found that romancing people inside the borders of the "friend zone" tends to be problematic anyway.
It cost me a very good friend once...

Am in a dilemma myself right now, am with a girl who's very pretty, intelligent, loyal and funny.  

The only problem is that she most definitely wants children and soon.  

And I most definitely don't...

On the other hand, I can tell you that being a Dad is the best thing that can ever happen to you.  I didn't want kids until my boy came along, now I wouldn't change it for the world.

Thing is everyone tells me that and keeps telling me that.  My g/f wants me to change my mind and I've had so much pressure to do just that, from g/f and friends alike.

well I did the mature thing...I phoned up an old f**k friend and met up with her within 30 mins of being rejected by the other young lady...

A liaison with a "non-commital" lady friend is oft a short term fix for a long term lady related issue.  But well done for reacting in a textbook manner Cyberus!  :pint:

I recall when a long term relationship of mine broke up four years ago, my usual standards of chivalry slipped somewhat, especially the notable incident involving strawberry yoghurt, my nipples and two sisters aged 22 & 18.

That was a surreal moment I can tell you.

In all honesty I've never really liked kids.  I'm never comfortable around them and most certainly don't want one myself.  Trouble is, that some people see me as a sort of challenge "Oh, but you absolutely must have children!".  My g/f too is mad keen on children and keeps asking me when and if I'll ever change my mind which often results in tears from her when I explain that I won't.

I've been honest and upfront with her from the word go, but she's putting me under so much pressure right now it's untrue.

If you love her then it may be best to let her go, she might be heartbroken for a while but then she might meet someone who does wants kids and she'll be happy then.

I can say this:

I hate children.  Other peoples kids that is.

There really is nothing worse than someone elses children to get on your nerves.

Thats why I choose to teach college students. :-)

well, I never thought I liked kids either, but my god-daughter is a bundle of sunshine. When she smiles, all my unhappiness evaporates instantaneously.

I remember recently as well, I'd got really pissed at a club, gone round to see a mate afterwards cos I was having a bad one. And I woke, the next morning, feeling like my head had been shut in a door repeatedly, to her kissing me on my closed eyes. Once again, all the despair vanished...when I saw her smiling at me and saying "Hello Adam!".

Pressing someone into becoming a parent is horribly wrong. My daughter wasn't planned at all, and I beleive that's the best way of procreating. Planning ahead takes too much energy, and sets wierd expectations on the child.

I believe that your girl will be horribly dissapointed when she actually do get a child. Many people only see the good sides with children, and simply refuses to realise how much energy they require.

It happens to often, I am afraid.
