Hardware Power
« on: March 27, 2006, 03:44:06 PM »
Are Canadian power and connectors the same as US?  Same physical type of connection?  Same amount of power?  110?

I've looked at some computer equipment from Canada and I'm not sure if it works here in the US without modification.

Oh, one last question.  Is Canada NTSC or PAL as it relates to Amiga computer equipment?  Sorry if this is a stupid question but I really don't know.

before that, try to use it with the ntsc monitor drivers. there are some cli tools too that can switch amiga from pal to ntsc and back. i don't know if this ntsc is ''real'' of course. just try.

If you're using a monitor it should be usable as PAL.  If you're using a TV you can switch the frequency, but the color will still be PAL mode (will show up as black and white).
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Just for your info Canada uses the same power as the US although there were some older states up until about 10 years ago that still used 110-120volt systems but were at 50Hz not 60Hz. this caused internal clocks to run slow and sometimes cause problems with video and computer systems.
Now all of the US & Canada use the standard NTSC signal 110-120 volt 60Hz. So anything made in Canada will work in the US and vice-verca.
