aminet.net points to recent, www.aminet.net points to search.

@cgutjahr: is there any chance to get the "uploads since last visit" function of the old interface back ?

Bye,
Thomas

I had Exactly the same reaction. I like the Recent page as default. at the very least making it user configurable is better than forcing people into the search page. not that I don't like the search. I just like the recent page. It's like window shopping. I get to look over the new stuff uploaded before I go and look for something in particular.

the link here on amiga.org (on the left <--) shows it's http://www.aminet.net/
however that redirects to http://aminet.net/search.php?

it's that redirection that's the "problem"

Typically about two files at a time.  :-P

Seriously though, it was a joke.  The Aminet is several gigabytes.

@all:

Sorry about the redirecting thing, we messed something up when changing our server setup. Will be fixed rsn.

Hm, good idea. I'll add it to the todo list (which is rather long though, i.e. don't hold your breath) and check what the others think about it.

How about another option in setup: "Make RECENT only show files since last visit yes/no"?

actually i like seeing the whole list of Recent files. sometimes i check out a file I did look at yesterday. sometimes I look at a file I ignored yesterday.....I find looking at aminet very relaxing. ok, that sounds odd, but that's how I feel  :-D

Since we're in suggestion mode -

The architecture filtering is a great function, but how about making the tiny icons at the top of the front / recent pages into links to their specific architecture?

I tried emailing this when the feature first appeared, but it went undelivered.

Cheers

I'm not sure I get what you say. Do you want to click on one of the architecture icons to reload the current page but this time only showing the packages that match the architecture you selected?

There is another problem with the main FTP site, today. Accessing the site in ADT mode doesn't work

Sorry, I completely missed that one.

Could you be more precise? What doesn't work (search? recent?, MOTD?, dir listings?) and which client are you using?

I'll have a look at it, though I'll have to install an ADT client first, can't boot into OS3 right now.

Well, i'll have to apologise too, because i also missed your post somehow. :-D
I'm using ATC but i can't give you any details right now because ALL the servers that i have tried are dead at the moment i'm writing this. I'll have to try later. Iirc, searches didn't work but i'm going to check it when the servers are back, to be sure.
