Amiga 1200 mobo not dead
« on: March 10, 2006, 05:05:07 PM »
Well after about 11 weeks of thinking my 1200 mobo had died on me I was totaly wrong.
I got around to stripping the tower case down the whole lot came out, Mediator sound card, Voodoo, ethernet the 1200 modo both CD rom's, and HD.
I cleand all contacts to every thing, checked PSU, all was fine apart from the HD.
As I did not have any spare on me, I could not do much to improve the bad situation.
I got a few from some one who was throwing some HD's out, they all worked but they was to small to use on a PC.
So I got a 2.1 gig put the whole lot back, installed Workbench 3.1 then onto my OS3.9 CD, now I have got it all back up and running.

I have no idea what happend to the original 6.4 gig HD but I kept getting shut downs as if the problem was coming from else where.
At first I thought PSU but no, then the Accelerator but no.
I new the HD was good (at least I thaught it was) so I took my mobo out and used the original PSU and the same nothing, but the world of electronics is a strange one, now the HD has been replaced I have no more problems.

I have had this before with a monitor it packed up and I put it away for about 5 months then got it back out and it worked dont ask me why or how, it just did.
So I have been using AmiKit for the past few weeks or so, to still be able to use an Amiga, but hey AmiKit is good, its very very good, but I dont much care I would rather use an Original Amiga.

Mike.
