Perhaps its for people that are too lazy or inexperienced to move the cursor accurately

Hmm, why do they need a special mouse (apart from the obvious $$$$ or hoax) ?
At the end of the day it's only another friggin button, it's down to the OS what to do when it's pressed...display a second cursor, pop up a menu or play amusing toilet sounds.
