help with fastlane and some 80 pins and 68 pins

i just got a fastlane , it is working because i test it with a
50 pins old  hardrive.
i have a 68 pins and 80 pins hardrive , and i got to the adaptador to convert the hds to 50 pins.
also i have a cable with one 50 pins connector to the faslane and i free wich i am going to use in the new hardrives .
when i connect the 2 hardrive i only see one , i dont see the other one , the one that os 3.9 see doest not let me format or
make a partition .
what am i doing wrong ??
any help there ??

You should have an active terminator atached to the cable and you should make sure that your second drive is set to a different ID number then the first (do not use ID7) as this is reserved for your controler.

An active terminator is a device that connects to the cable Rather then me try to explane it go here to get more info on this and some of your other questions.

To select what device ID number you want on the hard drive there is a space located beside the 50 pin cable that alows you to place a jumper over two pins telling the controller what ID you want to use if there are none then it is ID 0. if you place the jumper on the first two pins (look at the face of the drive there should be a diagram of what pins are what) You will select ID 1 and so on.

I'm not sure about the termination on the Fastlane as I have not used one of them. I am sure that somone on AO will be able to answer that.

i think i having problem with the hardirve , i have the error
empty scsi ( 0s 3.9 see the drive but i can not hanld it
is a ibm 18 gb .
can you recoment a good hardrive that will work with my faslane ?

If you do not have any external devices, then yes, you need to terminate the external end of the Fastlane as well. First, look on the Fastlane for three passive resistor packs near the external port. If you don't know what those are, look at this picture from the Big Book of Amiga Hardware. The three blue thingies are the resistor packs. If you already have them, you're set. If not, you are better off buying an external terminator and plugging that into the Fastlane.

SCA drives have no termination of their own, but some do require proper termination of the full data bus even if used with narrow SCSI (50 pin) - you'd need a 'split terminator' adapter for that, e.g. Reichelt 'AD SCA 13'.
