Amiga to SVGA for $74?
« on: February 28, 2006, 03:17:14 PM »
Has anyone tried this? I'm thinking about giving it a go.

eBay Item number: 8772851299

# If a converter doesn't cover 15.75~28.15kHz  range, it can not convert many Nintendo games and the older 8-bit video games for VGA/RGB displays.
# With a wide frequency range support, this unit is the only one to guarantee converting all video signals. Yes, we mean ALL Video Signals !

It supports composite input, so it should work. However, there are better devices that will accept a SCART input. Then you can connect a cable from the Amiga's RGB output to the converter's SCART input. This will give much higher quality than composite.

Probably for converting Amiga composite to VGA, however most Amiga models(except A1000) composite is mono IIRC. The description is probably misleading, I'd suspect the 15pin SVGA input is only for passthrough.

Is you find out different, let us know.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

"Most"?

A600 = Colour
A1200 = Colour
CD32 = Colour
CDTV = Colour / SVideo
A3000 = Built in Scandoubler

A4000 = Nothing
A500 = Mono
A2000 = Mono

I guess you mixed CD32 and CDTV up a bit:

It was the CD32 that had S-Video, not the CDTV.
