CF-IDE adaptor

I saw someone advertising such an adaptor for the Amiga.
You place this on the end of the IDE-cable and you get a CF slot.

I searched on internet and I find that they are available in both 40 and 44 pin versions.

The idea is then that you can use this together with a CF card and you get a small, low power consuming, noiseless harddrive. CF cards are available up to 8 GB these days, and if you can settle for a smaller one they can be quite cheap.
I think it sounds like a perfect solution for a A600 or A1200.
With a little saw & cutting you can even make an opening and put the adaptor near it, so you can replace the harddrive easily if you want to transfer data or have different boot up configurations.

Anyone tried this on an Amiga to see if it actually works ?

a lot of times it works flawlessly as posted several times on this forum. Therefor I ordered myself a nice IDE (44pin) to CF for my A600 to give it a try.
I want to custom build a case so I can place my A600 as game machine next to my DVD/HTPC  :idea:

Yes they work well. I have one in my desktop A1200 which I use as a portable games machine.

Hi, i'm interested on a cf-ide adaptor, all 2'5 cf-ide adaptors works on Amiga 600/1200? maybe i put one on the A600 and i move the 2.5" hd to the A1200, i saw a lot on ebay and a very nice price, but i don't know if work with all adaptors.

Ever thought of just using the CF card in a pcmcia adapter and plug that into the side slot That way you can still use the internal harddrive and the CF card gets also recognized as a kind of harddrive, though it doesn´t work that extremely fast  :-)

I use one of these adapters I got for £5 off ebay and it works well in the A1200. Just prep and quick-format the card like you would a regular hard drive.
Setting MaxTransfer to 64K for these devices seems to be the smart chioce.
