Pinball Mania AGA Problems
« on: February 22, 2006, 05:22:11 PM »
I have an original copy of Pinball Mania AGA but haven't been able to run it.  On both my A4000 and A1200 the title portion boots but the game screens come up as static graphics.

Is this a Kickstart problem?  Both machines have 3.1 and flicker fixer displays.

The other thing that struck me was a possibility that mode promotion might cause it.

Any ideas?

Bob

Did not this game come prebundled in a 1200 pack of newer 1200 with kick3.1? If so, then i doubt it is a kickstart problem. Pinball mania works fine on my a1200 with kick 3.0 atleast.

It could quite likely be just a damaged floppy disk.

Probably.  I don't recall this game being promotable or OS friendly.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Oops, I forgot to mention.  After the original disks failed I downloaded the game from the web and created new disks.  These had the same problem....

Sounds like it might be the mode promotion....

Thanks!!

I have an excellent solution

Get Slam Tilt and delete Pinball Mania.......it sucks!

I have it..I think it requires PAL

What do people mean by Mode Promotion?  putting it in Multiscan Mode?  or DblPAL?  cuz it certainly wont work!
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Pinball Mania was indeed not one of best in the pinball series. Even the old Pinball Dreams and Fantasies beat the hell out of it  :-)

Yep, have them...but I wanted to complete the collection.  I think I'll try the game again without mode promotion and an NTSC monitor in my devs drawer to see if that works.  I'd like to experience 1st hand how bad it is!  :-P

Well...tried everything I could think of and the same results.  I wonder if it's the drive....I can't boot Pinball Fantasies from an original disk either.

Oh well....Fantasies runs fine on my A3000.  It's good to have choices.
