You need some IDE controller, for example AddIDE should work since it sits on the 68000 CPU socket.

No. It does have some custom controller for the CD-ROM though, but it can't take HDDs as far as I know.

The best way of adding a hard drive to the CDTV is the SCSI adapter. There were at least 2 of them, the official commodore one, which required an external SCSI drive, and the Amitrix one which could take a 2.5" internal one.

The Amitrix one is still on sale today!

Ah indeed, there seems to be quite a bit of these CDTV SCSI controllers:

Amitrix: SCSI-TV
Jopower: CDTV SCSI (jopower)
TOMS: CDTV SCSI
WAW Electronik: CDTV To SCSI

How to install HD for Amiga CDTV?

you need to install an SCSI card and have the harddrive mounted externally. (Unless you find a 2.5" SCSI drive or want to squeze the drive between the memory card holder board and the midi board under the motherboard.. which is what I do)

I use Amitrix's SCSI-TV card and it works great.
If you have £150 you could keep an eye out on Ebay for the original CDTV harddrive upgrade which is cool but they are very rare and you would be bidding against me. :-)

No, the 40 pin headder the CD-Rom drive is attached to is a MKE interface and not IDE.

Martin, if anyone knows about buying cheap Amiga hardware it should be you...

For anyone not understanding, Martin Flash buys Amiga hardware very cheaply in eastern / central europe off people who dont know it's true value and then flogs it at full price on ebay uk (great little entrepreneur if you ask me!)

As it's you Martin I will give you the information

http://www.amitrix.com/pricelist.html

It's called SCSI-TV. They do charge quite a lot, but you cannot really go anywhere else! They may say they dont make them anymore, but I know that they have the parts and will put one together for the right price!

I wanted an A570 one recently. I've also got some rare 2.5" SCSI hard drives (350Mbyte) if you need one. It's the only way to get the hard drive inside the CDTV. Dont forget to buy the 2.5" adapter with your SCSI-TV.

Can you get me a cheap A1260 Martin?  :-D

I want to install internal HD so I need SCSI and it is for my own private CDTV, otherwise I would never ask for it on this forum. This stuff is not available at Eastern Europe. Think. And if you want me to buy something for uour personal collection at www.allegro.pl just let me know.

Get yourself a SCSI-TV from Amitrix and then give me a PM about the 2.5" SCSI drives.

If you cannot get an Amitrix SCSI board, a german person has obtained the rights to ALL W.a.W. designs including the CDTV SCSI adapter. He's going to be selling them for 70 Euro's.

Hope this is of interest ;)

Let me know if you get any Blizzard A1260's :-D

Hi,

that´s me... :-D

It is a complete set to fit a HD inside the CDTV. You only need a Y-Powercable and an HD.
But all informations and descriptions are in german.

If anyone needs a hard drive for this I have several 2.5" SCSI drives AND I just bought 5 of these...

They make IDE 2.5" notebook drives into 2.5" SCSI drives and they keep their form factor so they should fit the CDTV SCSI interface perfectly.

I have got TOMS SCSI interface for my CDTV.
Finally. But I can not find the drivers for this TOMS device! Does anybody has one to email me DMS?
Another problem is how to connect it? Look attached links with pictures. The Hd is set to default, there is terminator on the end of the cable, there are also 3 50pin plugs for scsi Devices. To wich 50-pin plug schould I connect my HD? 1,2 or 3?
