Doh! hehehe... well, I cold give my impressions if I got one, but that  has not happened yet (though I already bought it.. it's suposed to be on the way). I read that jens S. said its sound quality is better than Soundblasters of the PC world.. We'll see. Let's hope someone that already hsa it tell us how good it is :-)

@ lempke,
If you read the description of it, it does have a clockport connection.  Though it does not provide as much throughput as Zorro, it should still be enough for MP3's.

See description at this - LINK.

Lempkee: Greetings ;) AFAIK the card can be used in clockport as standard, to use the card in Zorro or PCI, an expansion port needs to be bought also.

Conclusion: The card works with clockport, zorro, and also PCI. I love my Delfina Lite, and I might be tempted to buy the new one ;)

does the delfina decode mp3's or allow them to be played decent on an 030? or was that a different clockport card that could do that?
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!

Yup, the on-board DSP on the Delfina Flipper can decode MP3s without taking any load on the main CPU.

When Jens S said it was better than the soundblasters, did he mean the
audigy & audigy 2 or just the 1024 etc.

IIRC he said that it's pretty good in comparsion with the high-end cards on the PC market.

I'm sure the Delfina Flipper is awesome (I'm planning to buy one myself for my A1200), but remember, he's a salesman :-D

When someone does a Sound Card for the PC, he does not make it as good as he could. He keeps in mind that by making a newer product, he`ll make people to buy the newer one instead.

They simply build to earn money.

But in Amiga things are different. Amiga designers try to achieve their dreams just like Amiga users. If mp3 playing slows down the system they put an onboard mp3 decoder. And when they do it they do it the best. When they find a way to make the card better, they try it, and sometimes they are successful.

If the card is so wonderful compared to soundblaster cards (no pun intended) and it is pci, why not release it for the pc then? A driver issue or simply a 'not-interested' issue?

Well, I have not followed up or anything, so the question is based purely on the thirteen posts in this thread and is not intended to be a flame-thing. I just wondered, as it could not hurt sales (could it?).

Sincerely,

-Kenneth Straarup.

There are many, many, PCI cards that are superior to the Soundblaster range. Creative don't make great hardware, its just that their hardware is ubiquitous :)
