Where is PowerVixxen LT?
« on: February 01, 2006, 10:32:21 AM »
On the latest chat, ACK had announced that the documentation / information about PowerVixxen LT will be available at the end of January 2006. Now it's February 1st.

Where is the information/documentation about PowerVixxen LT?

Thanks.

Its all Vapor.

Well, yes. This part is true. We haven't seen anything of it yet.

This you can't say with certainty. From what I know of the parties involved, they have absolutely no reason to make this up. I'm confident it'll appear eventually. And I hope soon, because I want one! :-)

Remember, just about every Amiga-related product for the last 10 years or so has slipped the release date by a fair amount.

@ Matt_H

Oh please, do we count peanuts?
Every new hardware for the amiga in the last years we saw prototypes (PowerUP boards, G-Rex, Mediator, even Amiga1 and Pegasos). The PV was announced in 2004 and what did we saw? Right, nothing. Its just some kind of delay for a vapor product so that people won't leave the market. Or why do we got this news in December right after the OS4 Chat? Developing such a board is a pain in the ass. It will take years. Even the developement of the FPGAs on the PowerUP boards needed 2 years. Of course, showing us some pictures is no real proof but at least we can say it exist in some way.

@DJBase

Perhaps he could rip-off someone else's work and pass it off as his own?

Same old Amiga formula.

Announce something non existant

Get praised (usually dancing bananas) for it

Make up a silly release date

Nothing happens and company stays silent

People start to get pissed off and ask questions

Defenders come out to defend magical product and call people trolls

Company stays silent

Defenders starts to recommend magical product to people who ask questions about OS4 hardware

Company comes out and makes another silly release comment

On and on and on like a broken record.

yes this is the usually or this what we use to see in amiga scene all these years, but guys these asian companies who can produce amazing mobos with all the good and new technology stuff, every 3-6 months they bring new models and ''we'' in amiga can't do at least one that works ok with no probs? finaly, why amiga inc have to beg every eyetech and don't apply the job to an asian manufacture? the result would be quicker, cheaper and more stable as i see it from this point of view...
A3040/25 AmigaOS 3.9
A1260BPPC AmigaOS 3.9/4.0
Sam440ep AmigaOS 4.1.2
PegasosII/G3 AmigaOS 4.1.2/MorphOS 2.7/Debian 5.0.7/SUSE 11.1
MacMini/G4 1.5 MorphOS 2.7/OSX 10.5.8
Long Live Amiga

If i am going to have bugs on my system,
at least let me keep the latest versions.

It is already a year overdue.  It was announced in December 2004 that the prototype cards were already finished and running Linux, and ready to go into production for a consumer release in Q1 last year.

I just find it slightly strange that the cards have been completed and working for over a year and there still hasn't been so much as a photograph shown.  Not that a photograph means anything (we've all seen photos of SharkPPC, BoXer, AmiJoe, Dragon et al) but at least it proves the thing exists in some form.

I'd have liked to have seen at least a little video of the board plugged inside an A1200 and booting into Linux, as they have apparently been doing for 14 months or so now.
