1084S power button problem
« on: January 30, 2006, 08:34:30 PM »
Hi there,

Does anyone know the manufacturer / part number of the power button on 1084 monitors ?
Or a good replacement part ?

The power button on my 1084S goes in and switches the screen on, but as soon as I release the pressure it pops back out and the screen goes off .. sticky tape fixes it for the moment, but I'd like to desolder the old one and put a replacement in.

Thanks!

Mark

I think this is a fairly common problem as I have seen many such 1084's advertized for sale with broken switches.

Sorry I don't have a replacement part suggestion for you, but if you do find one that is good fit, post your find results here for others.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

If you can't find a replacement switch, you ould glue the switch in and then switch it off at the power socket, or put a switch inline with the power cable.

PWRSW-1460

Find it here:

IIRC these are the only people selling that part on the web, I should be ordering one from them sometime this week.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, just flicked them an e-mail to see availability .. not that hopeful mind.

If I find a good alternative I'll post it up here.

The 1084 that I had did the same thing I opened up the case and bypassed the button with a toggle switch and placed it in a hole that I made on the side of the monitor. Worked great for years until it got dammaged during a move.
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

That's what I'm thinking I'll have to do .. just I'm a fussy bugger and want it to be aesthetically pleasing :-)
