How to Cut-N-Paste with OS3.9?
« on: January 29, 2006, 09:50:39 PM »
Hi -

What helper applications do I need to
grab from AmiNet to be able to
Cut-N-Paste?  I know that you need to
load some libraries to use RightAmiga-C
to cut and RightAmiga-P to paste.

Thanks !

Amiga 1200T 060/60 PPC603e BVision and more
Amiga 1200 nice white case GVP1230/1291SCSI
Amiga 2500 stock 2630 GVP HC+8(4)CD-ROM

That's interesting... I thought this was a feature of ROM?

I know that each application has it's own short-cuts but that got me wondering if KingCon or MCX was handling the Cut & Paste.

There is a Clipboards/ directory in Ram Disk: but some apps don't respond to Right-A c/x/p - notably Workbench utilities/GADTools requestors etc.

I find PowerSnap utterly useless. Maybe it doesn't work with MUI or something but whenever I've tried it and paste I get loads of ????????? and nothing else.

I was trying to cut-N-paste from Multiview
into another application.  I could not highlight
in Multiview and cut / paste into anything else.
I'll try that PowerSnap for what its worth.  What
is KingCon and MCX?

if you configure properly the powersnap it works ok most of the times:) kingcon is an alternative to the standard amiga os shell that you can find in drawer system. shell is a kind of ms-dos (bad words i know...) if you know from pc world. mcx is a commodity. commodities are tools that run at boot time from wbstartup drawer and they adding more functionality to the amiga os. it's something like ''extra tricks''. powersnap is a commodity too. now, mcx is a multi-commodity, that means it can handle-add more than one tricks at boot time but personaly i believe that mcp is better than mcx. download them from aminet both, read carrefully the guides and decide your self what of the tricks you wand and what don't.  :-)

-edit-
i see that you have a ''heavy equipment'' :-)

Yeah for some bizarre reason Workbench has the Clipboard/ in Ram Disk: but most of the programs won't let you highlight text to copy & paste!

I'm not entirely sure what King-Con does but I use it and it makes the Shell much nicer, adding a scrollbar and buffer. MCX is very nice and recently I've set my middle mouse button to cycle screens, which is incredibly useful. Rather than press 'Left-A m' you can just click and hey presto. Good too for games that don't have a screen swapping button and you're too lazy to do the key combo.

;-)

Use the "Mark" and "Copy" options in the edit menu of Multiview (there is no paste option though).

Rainbow Islands: \\"The game is sometimes called \\"Bubble Bobble 2\\". However, two other games --\\"Bubble Symphony: The Story of Bubble Bobble 2\\" and \\"Bubble Bobble 2\\"-- claim the same name. Rainbow Islands happens after Bubble Bobble. Bubble Symphon...

@Hyperspeed: i can cycle through screens and with this combination: hold left mouse and pressing right mouse instantly but i don't know what patch-or-commodity does this thing as i run tones of them at boot time :-)

-edit-
the diference or at least one diference with kingcon is that the shell is not using the standard con: and raw: but these of the kingcon-handler. the command shell/cli is the same, so i think that it gives the shell more functionality, the shell it's self is the same

Multi-CX is less bloated to me and offers much neater functions.

I remember setting the middle mouse button on my Wizard Mouse to be walk-forward in Quake. I could shoot with the left button, walk forward with the middle and jump with the right. My left hand remained free to punch the air every time I axed a PC user to death.
