amiga 1000
« on: January 22, 2006, 02:48:23 AM »
Hello,

I just got an amiga 1000 from ebay. I used to have one back in 1986 and loved it. So I got one for old time sake. However it did not come with a keyboard cable. I thought I remember it just being a phone cable but this one it skinner then the standard phone cables I have. Can anyone help with the problem.
Thanks. I can be reached at mywebemail@mac.com

Hi,

It appears to be an RJ-11 of some sort...

Be careful how you wire it though - mine has yellow, red, green, black on one end, and black, red, green, yellow on the other (e.g. crossed over).

Also try these guys - if they've got them in stock, a new one will cost you US$17...

A standard telephone handset cord works just fine. My dad used a 20 foot one on his a1000 back in the day and it worked great.

Thanks for all the help. Its not a regular phone jack which is rj11 (usa). I looks just like it but thinner. Rj12 is what I come up with on the internet. I did use a phone wire back in the 80's when I had an A1000 but it doesn't seem to be so now.  Thanks again, Jerry

It's not the cord that goes from the wall to the phone, but the core that goes from the phone to the hand set. The cord to the handset is always the smaller rj connecter. Give it a shot.
