Images as Icons on WB3.1 or 3.9
« on: January 19, 2006, 06:51:37 PM »
Hi,
are there utilities i could use to display jpg-s or other image files as icons, WB 3.1 AGA+060?
Don't get me wrong, i don't expect much from the quality, would be very happy with blocky 4color ones:)
Thanks.

If memory serves me in OS 3.1 you need to have a program like Art Department Pro. or I beleave Delux Paint as the picture must be in an IFF format in order to use as an icon image. In OS 3.5 and 3.9 there are built in programs that alow this. I use the Video Toaster to do all my Icons as I can tell it to save a picture as a 256 colour icon image.
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

if i remember well in os3.1 you can use iconian to copy the jpg images and paste them in the icons http://de4.aminet.net/gfx/edit/Iconian2_98u.lha
http://de4.aminet.net/gfx/edit/IconianKey.lha give it a try
A3040/25 AmigaOS 3.9
A1260BPPC AmigaOS 3.9/4.0
Sam440ep AmigaOS 4.1.2
PegasosII/G3 AmigaOS 4.1.2/MorphOS 2.7/Debian 5.0.7/SUSE 11.1
MacMini/G4 1.5 MorphOS 2.7/OSX 10.5.8
Long Live Amiga

If i am going to have bugs on my system,
at least let me keep the latest versions.

Wasn't Iconian able to convert images to .info with a variety of options?

There was one program that let you drag and drop an image file and automatically create an icon of said image done to your parameters.

I can't remember it doing jpgs though, mind you way back when I used it years ago I mainly had iffs.

-edit--
amije got there before me :-)

and this post doesn't sound at all like I'd normally post.  Sounds like I'm trying to be a lawyer!

@HardStep

There's a program called "PowerIcons":

With this proggy you can use PNG image file's as icons.
It looks very cool on my A4000D/060!

@HardStep

You might like this. Just drag image onto the appicon on Workbench for this
program, and you will have an icon of the image. Note: The program is dependent
on datatype support.
