Bought a nuther miggy
« on: January 15, 2006, 05:38:36 PM »
Ye gods I can't believe my compulsive nature. Went on ebay yesterday, right after having a heart to heart with my sweety-pie wife about the 6 amigas scattered around here. There was an a3000 with tape backup and lots of SW but no monitor. The picture showed it hooked to an LCD, but they claimed they were got it from someone, didn't know anything about amigas, didn't even know if it had a HD, although they seemed to know that all the expansion slots were free. If this was a used car I would have walked on by, but I have 3 a2000's and 2 a4000's and the Beast, my a4000T and I didn't have an a3000. There were only a few minutes left and I knew someone else would outbid me, as they always did when I tried to but a scandoubler. 7 seconds to go and I was still the high bidder. BING! I own an a3000 with tape backup, extra external floppy and lots of games etc. Cost me about $100.

Questions: did I do good with that price (no monitor but some extra goodies)? Since these guys claim to be amiga idiots they might not know that some HDs require a warm boot after powerup. I have a couple with that problem, so it might have a perfectly good HD. Finally, does an a3000 have the ability to use an lcd monitor without some kind of graphics card or something? I know it doesn't need a flickerfixer... gotta do some research.

Anyway, I may be unloading one of the A4000 desktops soon so my sweety-pie wife doesn't worry about and my collection getting out of hand. I'll let ya know.

Sounds like a good price to me, but I don't know much about the market over there in US.

You can use a standard VGA monitor with an A3000, so I guess that means you can use a TFT too...
I like Amigas

100 bucks is pretty decent for that depending what it has in it. i bought a 3000 with hd and os3.1 for 80 i think.

a 3000 can connect to any vga monitor and some dvi monitors with an adapter, it has flicker fixer and scan doubler built in so it looks really good.
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!
