Need SuperGen SX info
« on: January 13, 2006, 01:40:26 AM »
Just won a SuperGen SX genlock on eBay! How sweet is that?!

Question is, does this thing require a power supply or does it get power from the video connector?

And does anyone have, or know where I can find, the software and manuals for it? I'm told they don't come with this one.

Thanks!

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

  I have a A2000 with a SuperGen. It plugs into the 2000 video slot. I let a friend use it to title high school football games. I don't think it uses software but it's easy to use. I check on a manual.

@Ronmor

He has the SuperGen SX not the SuperGen

@Dr_Righteous

Congrats!  its probably the Best Genlock for the Amiga.......I have it :-)  and love it.

it does NOT require a power supply nor does it require sofware.......but it does come with some helpful software for SCALA and intelacing screens that are not interlaced........the software also has stuff that Lets SCALA control it and do fades from scripts........real cool.  it also has Color Bars and image adjusting Images..

PMail me with your email and I may be able to send part of the software.

I hope you have Scala MM300 or higher........You will Need it to take full advantage of the SuperGen SX

Also Broadcast Tilter 2.0

No other software takes so much advantage of the SuperGenSX.

I've used the SGSX before, but that was like 12 years ago when I worked in a public-access TV station.

My primary use will be pumping my video output into my Pinnacle AV/DV card via S-Video, hopefully giving me a bit better display than my aging C=1950.

Of course the bonus of titling and chroma-key could prove interesting in and of itself. Hmm, now I need some thick blue fabric to hang on the wall! :-D

@Dr_Righteous

You CAN"T do ChromaKey on a SuperGen or SuperGenSX

You need a seperate ChromaKey device.  I wish it did as I want that feature badly.

If you want to record your visuals.the best No Loss Quality is to tape it into the S-Video Input of a DV Camera.........then just transfer the Footage via FireWire to a Mac and burn it to DVD.

I could swear I remember doing chroma-key with it... Just reversing the disolves. Hell, it's been 12 years since I've messed with it, I could be mistaken... Or maybe it wasn't an SGSX. *shrug*

Really, I'm just planning on using it as a monitor replacement. My Pinnacle AV/DV does everything I need it to... Namely analog capture, since I use an S-VHS camera. Just need to get a MUCH bigger harddrive soon.
