But you've lost some weight since then??

Sorry, its my predictable humour, you'll get used to it. Welcome to Amiga.org, in my opinion the friendliest and most useful Amiga site on the internet!
I like Amigas

hi, welcome. what amiga are you thinking of getting? most people would recommend an a1200 as it is fairly common, has the aga chipset and is highly expandable. im quite partial to the 3000 though.
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!

Welcome Back Friend.

Enjoy the Amiga as you like.  Ignore the haters, avoid the beraters. Have fun.

I guess if you want to go Classic style you could go for the A1200 as it has the AGA chipset, and is one of the most hackable of the Amiga computers (ie: accelerators, controllers, storage devices, backplanes, and more.)  As a nifty little bonus you can use a PCMIA networking ethernet card to get it on the internet too.

If you are lucky and are a little more ambitious with your cash, you could go big box like some of us.  That meaning get you an Amiga 3000 or Amiga 4000 with accelerators and all the whipped topping that your bank account can muster up.  Some of us even have the luck of having towered systems (I spent some of my money that I could have used on a Escom Amiga 4000T system on at the time new ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and a Indigo2.)

Then there are the new school options that I'm not very educated on which I'll admit, like the AmigaONE, Pegasos.  I guess anyways you go LET THE GEEK BE WITH YOU. :hammer:

Ask for advice from here and you will get a lot of it when it comes to which model to get and how much to spend.  Then you can spend the next two weeks sifting through all of it to make your decision.  It seems that there are more kinds of Amiga users with strong opinions of what is best and what it is worth, than there are stripes on a Zebra, but I don't mean this in a negative way.  Diversity makes the world an interesting place to live and this site is the BEST AMIGA SITE ON THE WEB!  Great people here are always willing to go out of their way to help too.  Good luck on your return to the wonderful world of Amiga.  Let us know what you want to use it for if you want the advice I mentioned above.  Where are you located?  That might make a difference too.

Welcome aboard!   :-D
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Well i have so many questions to ask that i dont no where to begin.
Iam thinking of getting an Amiga 1200 and i would like to have my Amiga with a hardisk and a network card so that i can use her for web browsing etc. My OS should be Amiga OS 3.9. Is Amiga os 3.9 working in a Amiga 1200?
My location is Finland, and i have no ideas if its even possible getting an Amiga 1200 here.
Are here any Finnish members that can help me out?

Thank you all for you hospitality.

Yep OS3.9 runs on the A1200, you need to make sure you have 3.1 kickstart ROMs in your machine though.  It's possible to add a  harddisk to the A1200, and also possible to add a PCMCIA network card, although, you have to make sure both are compatible.  Just ask and people here will help out.  They're good like that :-)

There are quite a few Finnish members here, I'm sure they'll be able to let you know the best places to get an A1200 from.

Enjoy your stay.

I should also add that OS3.9 also requires a CD-ROM (or at least a way of getting the files off the CD-ROM)

See here for more information -
