Does OS 3.5 have a SCSI device??
« on: January 04, 2006, 06:27:23 PM »
I'm having a little problem with ImageFX 4.5's scanner settings. In the settings window, it askes for a SCSI id and the device listed is SCSI.DEVICE, but looking in the DEVS drawer, there's no SCSI.DEVICE. Does OS 3.5 use it or something else? This is the thing that hangs my A3000, ImageFX works otherwise.

A3000D, os3.5, 8megs ram, nothing else

Amiga 3000D & 4000D in storage sadly.

Well it's not OS 3.5 that has it your A3000 Kickstart ROM chip has it, it is scsi.device and it is in the ROM, so no need for it to be in devs.  Open up a shell and type "version scsi.device"  Do you have a scanner hooked up to your SCSI port?  You need to have it properly terminated and a proper driver for it to work.

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

The original scsi.device is in the Kickstart ROM and OS3.5 comes with an updated version which is contained in the Devs:AmigaOS ROM Update file. If you don't want to use the updated scsi.device change the SetPatch line in S:Startup-Sequence to read

SetPatch QUIET SKIPROMUPDATES "scsi.device"

Note that you can no longer use harddrives bigger than 4GB if you don't update scsi.device.

Oh, and you have to switch off the computer to remove the ROM Update from memory.

Bye,
Thomas

You state you have an A3000D , OS3.5 , 8Megs Ram, Nothing else..

You'll need a scsi Scanner attached to use this setting, if you dont have a scanner then ignore.

read this url explains about A3000 & scsi terminations..

Whoops, I should have mentioned that. Yes, there's an external SCSI CDrom and a HP scanner connected to the 3000. The scanner is terminated.

I'm using the same kind of setup I used with my A1200, with ImageFX being the scanner driver, although I was using ImageFX 2.6 before, and I'm using ImageFX 4.5 now.

Then use scsi.device!
