Good News Everyone! (I love Futurama) I was able to pay thru Paypal. I'm always leary of ebay glitches though - like the Daja Vu incident with the cat in the Matrix.  :lol:  I'll keep you all posted though. After all, you don't see an auction like that too often. Especially an Amiga auction.  :-P  He emailed me back and told me "Hmmmm, that's weird". And asked me to let him know if I continued to have a problem. But, I've been ripped off on ebay by peeps with 5 years or more with sterling reputations. In the mean time, keep the electrons flowing thru those Amigas!  ;-)

@ Dr_Righteous....

Don't feel bad. I was bidding on THIS today (I was the first bidder 7 days ago) and lost to a sniper! There were like six of the same item from the same seller. Nobody bid for 6 days. Then, within six hours of the auction ending, WHAM! Peeps came out of the woodwork and drove the prices sky high! I lost! The final price was outrageous anyway! Win some, lose some.  :crazy:

@Gizmo

Same *$%)er got you too eh? Yeah, same auction for me too. I messaged the seller asking them to reject the bid. We'll see.

@TjLaZer

Sniping is wrong. Period. I don't mind being outbid, that's fine and fair. But sniping is totally against the spirit of eBay, and is probably against their AUP. And if it's not, I will personally see to it that it becomes so.

jkirk has bid on some of my auctions, I think I talked to him once or twice.. seems like a good guy.

As for the Paypal thing.. I dont accept paypal.. my account is locked because of a dispute with a E-bayer that will never be closed.   Just send him a email w/contact info and GIT R DUN.

I don't get it, people that bid early will always overpay!  That is not worth it to get the "Spirit" of using ebay.  I use to do it the regular way and would pay out the ass for stuff, and would hardly ever win!  Yes I got snipped too!  I learned my lesson!  If sniping is the difference of getting a Cyberstorm MKIII 060 for $3xx.xx or for $5xx.xx guess what I am sniping all the way to my paypal account!  Sorry that's how I and most people feel regardless if it is the "right way" to do it, and ebay could care less as they are raking in millions and don't have time for those problems, even if it costs them money!!!

As for the $26 AmigaOS 3.5 CD that you both lost, WTF are you expecting to place a bid for $10 on a AMIGA OS CD and actually win it!?!?!?!?  That is laughable fellas!  If you are actually going to take the time to place a bid and log in to ebay and enter a dollar amount, have some balls and enter a realistic amount for the item!  But wait, you are doing it the "regular, spiritual" way and guess what it would of ended at like $60 or $90.  LOL, well guess what, if I wanted that item and sniped it, I would of probably walked away with it for like $41.   LOL

@Gizmo

Good, hope everything goes ok.

As for sniping. The ebayer looses out ONLY because they did not put in a high enough bid, blaming the sniper is pathetic.

Thus the reason *I* bid $10 for it. OS3.5 is only worth $10 to me. IMHO you'd be getting ripped off paying $41, since for $47 you can buy OS3.9. I figured what the hell.

Like I said, I don't mind being outbid. My max bid is what I'm willing to pay... But maybe I'd like the opportunity to reconsider. Bidding wars are what auctions are all about. Sniping is unfair (tho much to my chagrin IS actually acceptable policy to eBay) to both legitimate bidder and seller alike.

I respect your opinion on it Tj, but I can't abide it.

That said, I encourage all eBay sellers here to include no-sniping policies in their auctions. Also, sniper victims, please write a letter of complaint to eBay about their policy on sniping.

@TheMagicM

Um you must be confused, I like to snipe!  I agree with you!

@Dr Righteous

I agree $41 is too much I was just making a point.  I always make a consideration on what I am bidding on, I am not going to overpay for stuff like some idiots do!  (Like new DVD movies selling for what you can get it at Wal-Mart for! Minus S/H fees! LOL)  But in this instance, if you or anyone else did not bid this is what happens, a few people all snipe and whoevers internet connection is the fastest and get the bid in before it ends wins!  Hence you get the CD for $11 !!!!  :)

@TjLaZer

I'd rather give my money to these peeps for a less money! And, give it to those that appreciate my business. People need to get over ebay! Ebay is undercutting Amiga development anyway. Period! Ya, there are some things that I want for the classic Amiga that I probebly can't get anywhere else but, to overpay when I can get it just as inexpensive from a legitimate business is just plain stupid. Lessons learned don't need to be hard! Just be informed! I use ebay as a marketing tool just as much as I use it as an acquisition tool. BTW, thank you Amigakit!  Amiga OS 3.5   :-P     And, HELL YES, I snipe everything! I have to! But, I do it manually.  I lose a lot 'cause I can't sit on a computer watching ebay like it was "The West Wing".   :lol:   Which I've never seen in my life.
