Rare Amiga CD32 with Promodule 8MB RAM FPU HDD OS 3.9
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:03:34 AM »
Heads up guys! I am selling the following:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8248546654

From the Ebay Blurb:

Your chance to own a really nice peice of Amiga history. This is a CD32, with a Promodule. The Promodule is Elsat's alternative to the SX32 and suchlike devices.

This gives the CD32 A1200 capabilities and more. I have added everything possible to this Promodule so it is fully loaded. Features include:

8MB Fast Ram (with switch to turn off for compatability)
FPU clocked at 33MHz
2GB 3.5" IDE Hard Drive
3.5" Floppy Drive
Keyboard
Mouse
RGB Monitor output
Parallel and Serial Ports
The only thing that is lacks from an A1200 would be the PCMCIA slot and the internal clockport. So you are getting an AGA Amiga, which can run all A1200 programs and games, including the old stuff, and obviously the CD ROM drive on the CD32 can be accessed by Workbench. You can boot via CDROM, Floppy or Hard Drive (in that order).

I have installed a few things to get you going: OS3.9 with Boing Bag 1, KindWords 3, PPaint 6, Octamed 6, A-Train, an AGA Graphical Demo, and a few utilities like X-Copy and Sysinfo. Other than that, the Hard Drive is basically empty.

I have changed the floppy drive in the promodule to a brand new black-fronted one. Can you believe it comes with white as standard? I have also managed to get a nice black keyboard and the black version of the official Amiga mouse.

Of course the CD32 is a good games machine so I have included a CD32 controller also. The mouse mat on the picture will also be yours, should you win this once in a lifetime auction.

The Promodule does have a socket for the FMV cartridge, but I tried it with 3 different CD32's and no fast RAM and the 4MB it is supposed to support with the FMV cartridge installed and I can tell you now, it is not stable, in fact, getting it to even load workbench is impossible, so my FMV cartridge is installed on another CD32 that I will auction soon. The configuration as it is now is very stable, as stable as any A1200 setup of similar specification, it is a real joy to use.

Last of all, I have set the Promodule to use external power because the drain on the CD32's PSU  with all the options added would be to great. Therefore you will get one PSU for the console and one for the promodule. And again, I managed to source a black A1200 PSU and the same colour and shape PSU for the CD32! It all looks very nice.

I was reluctant to sell this setup but I am having to make some space, so look out for some more auctions in the coming month, including CD32 with FMV cartridge & some classic 8 bit stuff. Once all this is sold I can finally bring my A4000PPC machine back home (I am storing it at work due to lack of space)!

On one of the pics you will see my A600 next to the Promodule, I thought they looked cute together, but that is not included (or for sale) and neither is the Philips monitor. If anyone has not seen what my A600 can do, visit www.amiga600.net for more info. As you will see I have a thing about max'ing out the Amiga!

Any questions, please ask, I will be happy to help.

I live in Lowestoft too so that makes 2 Amigans and 20,000 Chavs.   Wellcome to Amiga.org.
I would love to see a Coldfire board for CD32...more chance of the moon being made of cheese methinks.
Falling into a dark and red rage.

If I can I would buy this machine. But it is not easy to pass an Amiga from customs of Turkey. You should pay expensive taxes :-(

Just a reminder there is now less than 24 hours until this Auction ends. Who knows if there will ever be another one for sale ever. When I bought the Promodule, I had never seen one before or seen one since.

Good luck!
