Which is faster - 50Mhz 030 or 25Mhz 040?

040 / 25 =
Faster ~20-23mips, built in FPU doing several MFLOPPS
Hotter Big heatsink is mandatory and benefit from a fan aswell
Poor Compatibility Runs into trouble over and over again if it's not written specificly with that CPU in mind
Upgrade Some boards support the uppgrade to a 060 CPU

030 / 50 =
Slower ~9-10mips, extra FPU chip needed for a single MFLOPPS
Cooler Benefits from heatsink but not mandatory
Good Compatibility Runs most anything even if it's not written specificly with that CPU in mind
Upgrade Simply not possible

For integer operations the 040 is reported to be a bit more than 2x the speed (when running at the same clock).

A 50MHz 030 will spend a lot more time waiting for RAM accesses than a 25MHz 040.

Isn't that a pritty useless benchmark list for this question?

030/24 isn't a 030/50
040/40 isn't a 040/25
