help with PC to amiga file transfer in Australia.
« on: December 27, 2005, 03:31:48 AM »
Hi,

I need to be able to transfer files (.iff) from a PC (running either win95, 98 or XP) to an amiga500 (1mb, V 1.3), but i do not have the knowledge to get the software on each machine, and i dont know what cable i need to make up. If anyone can send me a working package with cable, and sofware on disks, i would happily pay you for your efforts.

I am in western Australia.
please emil me at brenbasley@yahoo.com.au if you can help.

thanks,
Brendon

Hi,

I have installed XFS on to a cut-down Workbench 1.3 disk - this allows a 1.3-based Amiga to read/write 720Kb PC disks (as well as 2.x-style FFS Amiga disks amongst other things). Spare RAM after loading this is a bit tight, but should be OK for transfer of small IFF files - though it helps lots if you have an additional floppy drive.

If you have a friendly Amiga owner near you with access to a PC, and a working way of transferring stuff between it and an Amiga floppy, it's an easy enough job to create such a disk.

If not, I'll PM you with my contact details and we can sort something out if you pay for P&P from NZ.

Regards,

 - Ali

Not really when it comes to Western Australia, I'm on the Eastern Seaboard, so I think it is something like >6000 km to WA :)

Well, I'm in Perth, but all my "real" Amiga gear has gone to a better place.

Try -Amiga Innovations- here in Perth.  The last remaining part-time Amiga dealer.  Be prepared to pay -far- more than its worth though.
