WANTED: Amiga 4000/040
« on: December 19, 2005, 05:16:15 PM »
I'm looking for a vanilla A4000/040 (not Toaster edition) in good condition (i.e. no battery damage) and fully working. I'd prefer a local seller (Toronto area, Canada, or at least in Canada.) PM or e-mail me with your asking price if you've got one and are willing to sell.

Talk to an amiga.org member "CatHerder". AFAIK, he's got a new old stock unit available for sale, however if I were him I'd simply eBay it and collect the $1000. :-D
He is located in Canada. Perhaps he would be willing to sell it to you off eBay, if the offer is right.

Betel,
Just in case you aren't set on an A4000, I have an A2000 with 060 and I am in Brantford.

Okee Dokee,
No problem.

Were you ever a HAUG member? I went to a couple of their meetings, mostly remember the one where they demo'd the A4000. I remember it well because I GURUed the thing.

Ain't that the truth?  Well I have yet met anyone on here that simply wanted to help out another fellow Aoer and sell outright, it's always on the bay to make that extra (hundred) green back...  :banana:

No, I never was. I saw my first A4000 at Leppert when they still sold them circa '93 I think.

It's not that I don't want to buy from ebay, problem is finding one in Canada so I don't have to pay expensive shipping and taxes...

@TjLaZer:

Perhaps he should sell it to boogiegail for a normal price so that she could part it out down to the A4000 screws sold in individual auctions. :-D

Well, I do have an Atari Falcon030 mint in box, with all manuals and stuff, maybe I should offer that up for a trade. But then again, a Falcon in box with all the stuff is much rarer than an A4000, albeit less useful to me.

Well, if my A3000T motherboard sells for less than the $100 I was offered on here I guess you can apologise later. My words were "you'll probably get it for less than that and neither of us will feel cheated in the end" for a few things people have asked me about on here...

Not to mention the free 68882s, roms, disks, mounts, cables, etc I've sent people on Amiga.org through the past couple years (I'm also Jagabot on here but that account is broken), I've also sent brand new 2000 motherboards with all the newest chipsets just to try to get a person's Picasso II card to work (free), and I've swapped hardware to people with no questions asked (burned at LEAST ten times by names right here on Amiga.org and by "dealers" out there with names everyone recognises).

As an example, the 1200 HD adapters I've listed on eBay for $1.95 (can't list them for the $0.99 I wanted to sell them at because minimum amount for multiples is $1.50US on eBay) I paid $6.00/ea for. Dammit catherder stop trying to rip people off on eBay for the maximum dollar! And the 1200 cable/mount kits I built myself by buying 8 feet of cable and a bag of laptop ide connectors. I guess those should be given away for free too? Or should they be sold for the amount of the parts and nothing for the 3 or four hours worth of making cables?

This is why I want all my Amiga stuff gone and no longer thought about. Too many times burned, too many times conned,  to many people pissing and whining about somebody trying to recover their expenses and time and too much time wasted responding politely to people who expect the sun for nothing. (The loading up a truck and dumping it all off in a landfill is still a really great idea in my opinion.)

In short, don't bid on any of my stuff if you're offended by me listing it on eBay. I've been burned TOO MANY TIMES by people who frequent Amiga.org and any other Amiga website for that matter. At least on eBay I get to publicly ridicule anyone with my mighty & fearsome negative feedback... :roll:

Hey Catherder, so how about selling me that A4000?  :-D

Anyway, I did bid on one of your A1200 boards, and I have a solid 100% rating on ebay too (registered since '98) so I mean what I say. Just name your price  :-)

But seriously...

I'll get around to letting you know what's in it and it's history eventually. I don't plan to eBay it. It's not "standard" but it is a new old stock case, and it does have some nice "features" (such as one of those fancy schmancy HDDD controllers that support PC drives etc).

It's just not "standard" out of the box new old stock... the motherboard in it, for example, was one of 6 I sent to Amiga France to get new batteries and the components certified (meaning they replaced anything that didn't test 100%). That cost me over $130US per board... On the 5 other A4000's I sold, after all was said and done I made about $115 on each "New Old Stock" machine. Yeah, eBay means you sell your Amigas for millions baby!  :roll:

Thanks for bidding on one of the 1200s, I hope it works great for you! :-)

I don't mind that it's been worked on, as long as it works well and is in good shape I'd take it. I've been looking for a good one from a Canadian seller for a while, and either got outbid or it went for some insane price. Anyway, let me know once you're ready to part with it. The sooner the better  :-D

@CatHerder,

Hey times are tough it is your perogative if you want to list items on ebay.  I am just making a statement that whenever I ask for something it is always turned down and listed on ebay.  What would you think if that happened to you all the time?  I think the only deal I got was someone who sold me a A500 for shipping only!  (Very nice of them I am greatful)  But then again A500s are cheap.  So I take back what I said that every time that has happened.

Anyway I am still interested in a few of your items and wish to bid!  I hope you don't blackball me like Vesalia!

btw both your A3000T MBs are going to sell for way more than $100 so no worries!  :)
