Plasma TV hooked up to Amiga!
« on: December 17, 2005, 04:58:37 AM »
I read somewhere if you have a Plasma TV with RGB VGA input it may work with Amiga native screens, 15KHz.  Well tonight I tried it.  It sorta works.  NTSC and PAL Low/High Res displays but screen flips.  If I put it in Interlaced it works fine.  When using OS 3.9 NTSC non interlaced works fine!  But if I boot a game from disk it flips again.  Any ideas on how to stop the flipping?  It is cool that it goes down to 15KHz...
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

The screen is flipping because the Game is PAL....boot an NTSC game and it wont do that :-)

Tisis one of the reasons why I a such a big NTSC collector and reject PAL whenever possible.

NTSC flickers less, and scrolls smoother (60hz vs 50hz)

if the Plasma has a V-HLD control in the back (Highly doubt it)  then you an also display PAL.

use WHDLOAD for most games, you be able to run them in NTSC mode.

@Erol

Not true
some games will not run in NTSC mode with WHDLoad

such as:

Ruff N Tumble
Slam Tilt
Banshee
Naughty Ones
Alien Breed Tower Assualt
Bubble N Squeek
Kid Chaos

and others.

If anyone knows how to get these to run in NTSC please let me know.....and yes I tied the NTSC tooltype.  I hope they make a fix for these Games as these are some of the best on the Amiga.

There is a Cool trick that the game OUTFALL uses that makes the Game NTSC from PAL and vice versa....but the screen is always centered and you cant tell the difference!  so awesome!  the best trick I have seen!
even the speed of the music and game is the same.
