Shim Material for A1200 Motherboard

My A1200 occasionally resets when I push down on the power plug conntected to the A1200 power port .  I think the problem is due to the motherboard flexing when downward pressure is applied.  Another A1200 of mine does not flex nearly as much as this one when I apply the same pressure.

I think I can fix this by inserting a shim between between the MB  and the RF shielding just below the power connector.   Any suggestions for a non-conductive material to use for the shim?  I thought about rolling up a wad of electrical tape, but that doesn't seem very elegant.

Check to see if the solderings are good first.

I took the amiga apart and removed the MB from the RF cage.  I checked the solder on the power connector on bottom of the MB and it looks great.   I also looked at the plug it self and it too looks great.

While reassembling the MB and the RF cage, I adjusted the position of the MB and the plastic shielding below the mother board and was able to significantly reduce the flexing.  It is comparable to my other A1200 now.   I tired to get the power to fail as before by pushing down on the power cord but it stayed alive!

Perhaps the motherboard was shorting on the RF shielding or the flexing casused the plug to loose internal contact with the connector.  I will monitor and report if it fails again.

Thanks for the solder inspection suggestion.  Eventhough it may not be the probelm, it has (hopefully) lead to a solution.

I had the same problem with my A1200.  I removed the whole top section of the RF shield and I haven't had a problem since.

PS: I had to remove the shield anyway because of the Mods I did to the case.
