MacTCP config
« on: December 11, 2005, 10:08:48 PM »
Yeah I got system 7.5.3 running.

But now I want to use my Ariadne card with it. So I enabled the device in SSPrefs. But how do you connect to the internet with MacTCP? I enabled AppleTalk but that has no effect. When I start Netscape it just says there's no socket connection.

On the Amiga I use Genesis with static ip addresses. It's connected with a crosslink to my PC that shares its internet connection. It works on the Amiga. I can't get MacTCP to do the same.

Check this page out. It's most of what you want, except when you get down to step 4, you set it to connect via ethernet. It's been YEARS since I last did that, so it's all fuzzy.

The main point is, you use Classic Networking in Open Transport, not AppleTalk.

I switched from Classic networking to Open transport and then you can configure TCP/IP the normal way and that works!

Thanks!

Good to hear you got it working. It had been so long, I barely remembered any of it.
