A1200 won't boot after AExplorer install
« on: November 30, 2005, 05:58:48 PM »
Hello all!
Help... please?
I've upgraded to the latest AExplorer from Cloanto on my Amiga Forever installation (PC side).

Then I think I messed things up by trying to launch AExplorer from the Amiga side before it was upgraded on that side.

Now it does not boot!
Did I kill my Miggy?... Is this fixable?

Thanks,
Al  :-?

How does "does not boot" look like ? What happens exactly ?

AExplorer has nothing to do with the boot process. Different versions are interchangable. I doubt it has anything to do with running different versions on Amiga and PC.

The only thing I could imagine is that you copied AExplorer to WBStartup and forgot to set the DONOTWAIT tooltype. Or you added AExplorer to startup-sequence or user-startup without "run" in front of it.

Another possibility is that you tried to write something onto your hdd's hdf through the AmigaExplorer window. This would indeed destroy all data on that partition. But I doubt that, too. First you have to give more details.

Bye,
Thomas

I think I tried to copy the new Amiga AExplorer to the Amiga side from the PC.

I did not edit the Startup-Sequence.

When the Amiga is turned on, the power light is on, but no drive activity happens and the screen stays blank.

By the way, my internal amiga floppy cannot read disks (this is why i was trying to transfer the new file).

Try booting with no startup-sequence (hold down both mouse buttons at boot) and see if you get to an AmigaDOS prompt.

@Alcamino : arg, you are too far from me, I would have fix your drive in 10 minutes...
I think that you should take a look at your kick"prom" and you PSU too, unplug the drive too as you don't use it anymore.
The worse that can happen to you is that one of CIA is dead..
Why didn't you tried to use PcmCia CompactFlash memory card adapter ? it's easy as a CDROM and fast.
Keep the Faith !
