About six months ago, I purchased a 4028 on eBay for $185.  Another $30 later with a crystal and processor swap, it became a 4040.

Best $215 I spent for my A3000, but still wishing at some point to get a 68060 working.

 :-D

Wow! Never thought people would pay that much, for it. It's probably the best non 060 card but still...

I think I'll enjoy it for a while then sell it by Christmas to get 060 or PPC (finally...)

Cheers

While assembling an a4000 about a year ago, I had come across a Warp'40 on ebay with 32mg ram and an external scsi header and ribbon. Had a buy it now price of 200$us, thought that was very reasonable considering what previous actions for the same type of item were ending much higher. The upgrade to the a4000 was well worth the cost.  'cept the project is still sitting on the work table waiting for a larger scsi hd to install VT4.1 and the Toaster/Flyer cards, which also need a few scsi drives...

Wow,

I wouldn't have though the Warpengine 4040 would sell for that much. I lucked out ang got mine from Livewire when they were still selling Amiga parts.

I think the 4040 with 64 MB Ram cost me a total of $160 (CDN).

Onb topic of the WEarpenging can anyone recommend a good Heatsink/Fan combo for the unint mounted in a Towered A4000.

This really isn't a difficult situation to understand people.  As someone else in this thread pointed out so accurately, it is a simple case of supply vs. demand, especially since the supply continues to dwindle.  As no new parts are being made, the value of "high end" AMIGA parts that still work continues to rise so it is indeed a seller's market.

Every user would love for upgrade parts to be inexpensive but the fact is that with our remaining inventory of working equipment, that just isn't an option anymore.  If you don't like a seller's price, don't bid.  If you don't like the current value of an item on auction in ebay, don't bid.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here but we all have to accept reality.  If you can find a "bargain" elsewhere, great!  Otherwise, we will have to pay what the market will bear...snipe bidders included.

Regards,
Ltstanfo

EDIT: I forgot to mention what I would pay....
given the current market, I would pay up to $250 USD for a working Warp 4040, anything slower I would deduct $25.
Gee Brain... what do you want to do tonight?
