IMAP Email, which reader?

Hi

My university uses IMAP as its email server. Do any of the amiga email clients support IMAP? If so, which ones?

AFAIK simplemail does - or it was to be implemented.

Ive installed SimpleMail and all its required files but I get this error in a window:

Could not create mui cutom classes

What does this mean and how do I fix it?

You'll need to install MUI - latest version available from aminet.
Install this, then you may need to re-install simplemail.

If there are any docs which come wiht simplemail they should exl;ain the system requirements.

Thanks, but Ive already got MUI installed. Ive got version 3.8 installed, is this the latest? I also installed the other requirments that it mentions in the SimpleMail doc too.

There must be some additional MUI custom classes you don't have installed. Or maybe they're not installed in the right place. You may need to reboot or run an aval flush to make sure the correct versions are being loaded into memory.

Also check that you have vapor_toolkit.library. Some MCCs require it but don't give informative error messages if they can't find it.

Thanks guys, got it working. I checked everything was installed and reinstalled some things to make sure and it works now. Thanks.

Only problem is that I type in my passwork for my email and I then get a window saying:

Synchronizing mails with imap.kent.ac.uk

Then under that it says Waiting...
And under that it says Waiting for login...

I have waited about 10 minutes but nothing happens. I have checked all my settings with Mozilla Mail and they are correct. Any ideas what the problem mught be?

Hi,

Are you sure you've got the settings right?  You need to use SSL, which are on different ports to normal IMAP.

Also I tend to find that the server occasionally goes down for maintenance. (although I can access it okay from my Mac atm)

(And if you hadn't guessed I'm also a student at Kent - 2nd Year CS)

Yeah I have the SSL box checked. The port number changes to the same port in my Mozilla config. So Im not too sure whats wrong. I have AmiSSL installed, not sure if that should help.

In SimlpeMail I have the server type set to IMAP, server set to imap.kent.ac.uk, ask box checked, active checked, avoid duplicates checked, secure checked (this changes the port to 993), APOP set to dont try. Then SMTP server set to smtp.kent.ac.uk, port 25 and secure checked. Are these the same as yours?

Wow!!!! Another Amiga user at Kent uni, Id never have thought it. :pint:
