I did a word search here for AmigaVision and Cando, and it doesn't seem to have been brought up yet.

I've never used either one of these 2 programs, but they were supposed to be a big deal in the past. Cando, being muc, hypercard type of clone; and AmigaVision, powerpoint like player?

Do either of these 2 programs merit a re-compile to PPC and an update?

Just wondering.

AmigaOne! Amiga has an isane amount of potential, as far as I'm concerned!!!  :-D

Cando was pretty nifty. I remember getting that on the cover of Amiga Computing and being quite impressed. Hollywood is more or less Cando anyway, but without the GUI.

AmigaVision I believe was done by Commodore, it was release with one of the early big box Amigas.
Cando was a multimedia language by Inovatronics.

I still have an original AmigaVision set w manuals and stuff.

Pretty good at the time. It's a script language, which you can use to create presentations and simple programs, but without using code. Everything is build using a GUI, and consists of elements which you drag and drop on specific places. There are if - else elements, etc.

I completely missed out on CanDo and AmigaVision.

CanDo was very useful.

Another multimedia authoring program was Helm.  I used it on an A600 at work to help kids practise/learn new vocab (I'm an MFL teacher).

That was back in 1994.  The dept. had just spent £800 on a 486 PC that gathered dust because we couldn't get the sound card to work.  My spare A600 ran rings around it and was always the centre of attention at opening evenings etc.

My own kids still use the Ten out of Ten software on the same A600

Seriously though, I never was very impressed with Cando, I certainly think we should just let the dead rest.

I used CanDo quite a bit in the Elder Days. When I worked at the local Amiga store, I wrote a CanDo deck for one of our customers to manage the classified ads in the 3 weekly newspapers they published. A simpler deck was the "starfield creator" for lightwave animators. That one got reviewed in "Video Toaster User" -- made my day...
I would like to see something like Cando for the A1. I use Visual Basic on the peecee, but it's so bloated with caud that it makes it harder to use.  
Never used AmigaVision much.
