Amiga Freezing BPPC
« on: November 23, 2005, 07:56:27 PM »
I've done a fresh install of 3.9 and set it all up by using this guide, so I try the warp tests and gears and they all work fine so I installed payback and warp4.2 and start it up then about 5minz into payback the games freezes and I need to do a reboot so any help on this would be great.

Code: [Select]
2. Installed OS 3.9 onto HD

3. installed CDROM software from 3.9 install script

4. installed PowerPC software support Warp OS V5 from 3.9
install script selected Wshell Support&other GFX card from
Question.

5. Installed BPPCFix from WarpUP archive. In the Startup-sequence
before setpatch wrote C:BPPCFix Install >NIL:

to prevent BB2 problems

6. Installed Boing Bag One & Two

7. Installed MUI 3.8 choose to install image sets & Example programs

8. Installed off of MM CD Mediator 2.9 system files,Enhanced
Voodoo drivers,Warp 3d using supplied install script

9. Installed picasso96-2_1b using install script.
Choose Cybervison 64 3D as the graphic card.
Found the CVision3D and CVision3D.info in the DEVS:Monitors
drawer, renamed these files to Voodoo and Voodoo.info,
respectively.
Changed in the tool type window of the Voodoo.icon:
BOARDTYPE = from CVision3D to Voodoo.
Double Clicked on the Voodoo icon (in Devs:Monitors drawer).
Started the Picasso96Mode program (in SYS:Prefs drawer) and
selected
Attach setting to Board0: Voodoo.
Set up some screen modes 320X200,640X400,800X600,1024X768
Saved exited and rebooted Machine.

10.Installed mediator updates so all files match that of

I just fitted a second fan to the card over the 060 processor, and so far 5 Min's have passed on payback and it's still working no freeze yet so maybe the card was getting to hot!

Doesn't say much since DCE sold overclocked PPC board (160 MHz boards sold as 210 MHz boards).

Anyway, my guess would have been overheating because of overclocking, but apparently you fixed it already :-)

set WOSPrefs mem protection to 0.

And in BPPC Early bootmenu>RAM "waitstates ON" at least for PPC.

EDIT ahh and update WOS to 5.1

Ok I needed to do a complete format and clean install today (cant find backup cd). So I installed everything like the guide above and everything seemed to go well until i try to run the warp demo gears, all I get is the screen flashes yellow and then sometimes i get a solid yellow screen and then a pc exception error. Does anyone know what would cause this I have removed the warp 3000/4000 drivers and that still doesnt help and this is the 5th time ive done a fresh install today.

IRC, there are mmu and nommu versions of the mediator HW drivers. BOTH sets are installed by the installer. You can only have one set installed. One must be removed after installation.
