Nice.

If I could get my hands on one locally, I would have definately bought one.

I think I have seen a few demo groups making demos for the DTV.. Good stuff. :-D

Given the number of units that are selling, it would be nice to see a new version that had the ports exposed.  Even if it required a special adapter so that they could use a something like the mini-parallel port form factor to keep costs down on the main unit.  This could then be followed with a SD based "disk drive".  With the ability to use SD containing D64 images as a drive, C64 software could go on sale again.

It is a nice idea, but it will never happen.  These are being sold as dirt-cheap, plug into the tv, toys, nothing more.

Just like the £20 megadrive 5-in-1 pads at my local Tesco.  99% of the people who buy them don't want or need anything else, and the other 1%, the "enthusiasts", probably already have a C-One, or an old C64 lying around.

If there was still a market for the C64, or C64 software, then they would still be on sale.  There isn't, so they aren't.  People have moved on.

I wouldn't be so fast to jump to this conclusion..

Ok, just noticed this from Jeff's DTV Hacking forums today. It seems
that Curt Vendel, one of the Atari Flashback dev team, has revealed
that a company in the Netherlands is working on a c64DTV into a
keyboard?

Not Nick Coplin's hack, this seems to be a commercial enterprise:

As Curt said in this thread -
http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78664

"Actually the Commodore C64 and assets are now owned by a company in
the Netherlands and they are working on a C64 in a keyboard."
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

the c64 was still selling fairly well when commodore axed it. they had even developed a nexgen c64 the c65 with an amigalike chipset and c64 emulation. i know quite a few people who used c64 regularly up till about '95.

manufacturers sometimes dont sell what could sell because they want to move the company in a new direction or dont have a know what direction they are moving. (commodore (what are we doing today? pc clones, c65 AAA amiga transputer))
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!

I knew you'd come back, Red! :-)

As for the Commodore outselling the modern consoles, I think it has something to do with people missing the good ol' days.

I'd say the huge price difference has a lot to do with that.

Good to hear the C64-DTV's doing so well though.  I'll be getting a PAL one to hack for sure.

Now, where's the A500-DTV?
