which version of the os do you have?

with 3.5 its easy - it comes with miami, which is a tcp/ip stack, & aweb, & an email program...

tcp/ip is a set of protocols for computers that want to communicate over a network

you can download aweb off amiga.org i think - & its open source

Options are:

Miami/MiamiDX :
Good stack but is is impossible to get a legal copy these days.

Genesis:
Hard ti get on it's own, but it is included with OS3.9, which is
allwaysa good think to have. Allso a good satck but lacks some
features needed when you want to connect direct (without router)
to an broadband-connection via ethernet.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Miami on OS3.5 is not registered and the same version
can be found on the Aminet.

A TCP/IP stack is a piece of software which connects your computer to the internet (or a LAN or whatever) using the TCP/IP protocol. A TCP/IP stack can do this through a lot of devices (typically a modem or a network card). The most advanced Amiga TCP/IP stack is called MiamiDeluxe, unfortunately that is no longer available. The other main contender is Genesis, but that doesn't support DHCP (or does it nowadays?, DHCP can be important in LANs or with broadband connections).

Genesis is included with OS 3.9. The new OS4 is supposed to have a brand new advanced TCP/IP stack called Roadshow. And all Amiga browsers are very outdated, but IB2.3 has the most features. (IIRC it doesn't support Shockwave Flash, whilst Voyager does).

Demo versions of Miami and Genesis can probably found on Aminet (probably with a 30 minute timeout).

If you've got a cable modem you probably don't want Genesis, since it can't hande DHCP.
Of course, this can be fixed by getting one of those hardware personal firewalls but that means spending extra money.

(edit: removed some things)

Try these out...

AWEB http://www.amitrix.com
Voyager http://www.vapor.com
IBrowse (Seach for it on the Google) :-)

MiamiDX (Deluxe) is the best tcp/ip stack around in
my opinion...

Genesis and AmiTCP should also work...

On the 3.9 CD, run the installer again and select "Install Internet Software".  This installs Genesis, AWeb (no time-limit demo) and an Email client (I've never used it).

I don't know how to set up Genesis, but someone here will.

Forgive me, I'm from the US, we're bad at English. Ad by computer though, boy, even I can't understand what I was saying there.
