Amiga 600 with two...faulty drives!
« on: November 17, 2005, 08:33:20 AM »
hi guys,

I recently bought an Amiga 600 from ebay. Now, the best thing to do is to send it back to the guy who gave it to me and get the refund, but I was wondering if anyone of you would like one. It must be one of the faulty disks that are causing the propblems  (so you don't get any of these-promise-I also saw hair in them), or perhaps it must be the fact that both of the disk drives sent with it (the built-in and the replacement) have a burnt fuse and sound like they are going up a steep cliff with 2nd gear...or worse. I also snapped a cable of the LED that indicates the power when I opened the case to change the drive. Just some soldering would do, but I am a bit bored with it (electrical and electronic engineering by the way). I will be able to give a joystick or two with it (they are the microswitched ones) as long as the amiga1200 arrives + scart/composite leads + power box + mouse (very good looking by the way). Ifanyone is interested please give me a ring...or whatever. I am in the UK. Thanks a lot!

...and finally it worked. Eventually Sensible World of Soccer Disk 1 did the trick and caused some bad behaviour in the drive(I wouldn't know how else I should call it!), but I got it working in no time. All the rest of the games I tested are going great, cleaned it a bit and now it works fine. At the same link I give above you can find the 'revitalised' item (I used the replacement drive but I don't REALLY think that was the problem after all)...
